Creating a window seat is often most peoples first real attempt at upholstery that involves any kind of sewing. As an upholsterer for over 30 years the one mistake most customer make is they misunderstand the finished thickness of the window seat cover. They will often assume that the depth of the boarder on the cushion in the finished thickness. They then are disappointed when the cover looks baggy. Here is my general rule. The interior should be 1" (2.5 cm) thicker than the boarder. The result will be a well fitted cover rather than a baggy one.
